Super Tutors ("we", "us", "our") operates this website and the Super Tutors portal application for students, tutors and guardians (the "Portal"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the website and the Portal, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information we collect

• Account details — the name and email address used to sign in, and your password (stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in plain text). Portal logins are created by the tutoring centre; the Portal does not offer public self-registration.
• Learning records — the classes, lesson times, attendance, homework, assessment submissions, results and feedback that relate to you or your linked student, shown so tutors, students and guardians can follow progress.
• Files you upload — homework or assessment documents and any images you attach in the Portal.
• Device and notification data — if you enable push notifications, we store the notification token for your device so we can deliver reminders and updates.
• Technical data — basic log information such as request times and error diagnostics, used to keep the service secure and working.
• Website enquiries — if you contact us through the website, the details you choose to send us.

How we use information

• To provide the Portal: authenticate you, show your timetable, classes, homework, assessments and results, and let tutors mark work and give feedback.
• To send service messages and, where enabled, push notifications about lessons and updates.
• To operate, secure and improve the website and the Portal.
• To respond to your enquiries and administer tutoring.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Push notifications

The Portal app can send push notifications (for example lesson reminders). Notifications are delivered through the Apple Push Notification service. You can turn them off at any time in your device's Settings, or by disabling them in the app.

How information is stored and shared

Your data is stored on servers hosted with Amazon Web Services in Australia. We use a small number of service providers strictly to run the service on our behalf: Amazon Web Services for hosting and file storage, Amazon Simple Email Service for transactional email, and the Apple Push Notification service for notifications. These providers process data only to deliver their service to us. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Security

Access to the Portal requires a personal login, data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and each account can see only the data it is entitled to. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as the account is active and as needed to provide tutoring services and meet our legal and record-keeping obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Children's privacy

The Portal is used by school students, some of whom are under 18. Student logins are created and managed by the tutoring centre together with the student's parent or guardian, who consent to the student's use of the Portal. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children other than the learning records described above. A parent or guardian may contact us at any time to review or remove their child's information.

Your rights and account deletion

You may ask us to access or correct your personal information, or to delete your account and associated personal data. To request account deletion, email admin@supertutors.com.au from the address linked to the account (or ask your tutoring centre), and we will remove the login and associated personal data, keeping only what the law requires us to retain. We will action verified requests within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed; significant changes will be reflected here.
